Era Natural 100% Unbleached Cotton Cheesecloth
I bake! I bake a lot, and I frequently bake loaves of bread and rolls for other people. Sometimes I get paid to bake, but mostly I do it for the love of those around me. Never mind the fact that very few people can resist the smell of fresh crusty bread or rolls.
I often purchase brand new, fancy tea towels for wrapping my loaves of bread in to hand them to people. Of course, I get the tea towels back, but I find as time goes by they lose their attractiveness and I want something new again. Additionally, tea towels are too small and I need to use two or three to wrap a large loaf and what the loaf gains in flavour it loses in the presentation. I prefer not to wrap the bread in plastic wrap and paper doesn’t cut it for me either, so I have been on the lookout for a suitable solution.
When I was offered the opportunity to product test the unbleached cheesecloths produced by Era Natural, I had an idea I could try them for presenting my breads. The fact that the cheesecloth is food grade is a plus and the natural, rustic look lends to the whole gifting process.
The cheesecloth I received was 12 feet long by 3 feet wide. It was huge, no complaints from me as I cut it into three pieces, one large and two smaller lengths.
The fabric is natural, unbleached cotton, with a fine texture and it is SGS certified as food grade.
The cloth is marketed as being durable and reusable; you just hand wash it out with gentle detergent or boil it in a pan for 15 minutes.
The colour will not run, making it safe for anything you need it such as storing foods, making jams, straining stocks, pressing tofu, making soft cheeses or yoghurt.
Would I recommend this product? Yes, I would, although I have yet to test it out for straining foods. I am happy with the cost in relation to what I need it for and the fact its natural and can be reused. All of these reasons make it a winner in my book.
